may summary, june goals

here are the things from my goal list that i managed to accomplish in may:

• complete my first wholesale order
• order new moo business cards
• finish the semester of school (i even got all a's!)
• buy my wedding dress (yay!)
• list cool and cute things in my shop
• entertain friends at my house (i think we had people over at least once a week in may)
• read some books for fun

i didn't:

• reach 300 hearts. i'm at 290, which is close! and i did gain 70 in may.
• sell 20 things in my shop. i sold 17, which is more than april, though :).
• have a give-away. i decided to scrap the idea i had. i did list some great deals in my shop throughout may, however.
• begin my biology class. what can i say, i'm a procrastinator!
• start to study my french stuff. i'll get around to it :p.

overall, i'd say that may was a good month. i didn't quite meet my selling goals, but i did come up with many new ideas and improvements on current items. june will be a great month for introducing all the exciting things i have planned :).

so here are my goals for june:

• sell 25 items in my shop, bringing my total to 81 items sold
• look into another wholesale opportunity
• clear out my tile pendants (i've got a new and improved version planned!). and just so you know, all throughout june, all my tile pendant necklaces are just $4!
• reach 360 hearts
• have lots of fun! i'm going to a book signing/reading of my favourite author, chuck palahniuk, this thursday, then saturday brandon and i are seeing eddie izzard! my best friend sarah and i need to plan my bachelorette party, too. and i want to read a bunch of the books i just got in the mail :)
• join an etsy street team?
• work on my french and biology stuff

this 6x6x6 box holds the 40 pairs of earrings i made for my first wholesale order! yes, i am done! it only took about 3 days to do everything that was needed, plus i threw in a magnet set as a sample :). here's to hoping these sell out super-fast and she needs MORE! :D

let's see, what else is going on today? i'm mailing that box ^, plus some pendant necklaces that didn't sell in my shop (and were about to expire) to a friend of mine (yay freebies!). i have a custom order for solid gold-accented pendant necklaces and/or earrings that i need to concentrate on, plus i need to design/order more moo cards, start making my newest line of washi cuties, remake some pieces that i sold recently, and mop the floors (friends are coming over tomorrow night!). plus, i'm really into my book that came in the mail yesterday, so i'll probably read a bit more of that.

oh, something i forgot to mention several days ago: my favourite author, chuck palahniuk (fight club, survivor, etc.), is going to be in austin for a book signing on june 5th! yes, i am totally going! wow, this summer keeps getting better and better :). the plan is to meet up with my friend jason (who was my history professor at one time) and go to bookpeople, where the signing is. jason's met chuck in the past, so maybe i can get a picture taken with him? brandon hasn't decided if he's going or not.

one more notable thing: gift sets in my shop are now just $25! i realized that i wasn't offering any kind of discount for essentially buying a pendant necklace plus a set of earrings, so that's why i reduced the price. now you save $1 by buying the gift set :). just a few months ago, i had the gift sets priced at $30, and while they were selling, i started buying supplies in bulk at a discount, so i passed it along to the customer, like any good etsian would! here's one of my favourites:

nine inch nails!

okay, so i've been really busy with finishing up this semester of college to tell you this, but i am soooo excited!

i got an email the other day from the nine inch nails website (i'm one of those suckers that paid $65 for an annual membership to 'the spiral', the fan-club type thing), saying that there will be a u.s. tour starting this summer! the last time mr. trent reznor did a u.s. tour was 2003-2004 for the 'with_teeth' release. i went to the concert in austin during his first round, but wasn't able to go when he came back around about a year later. so i went to my first nine inch nails concert in may of 2003, and was completely blown away. for those of you who don't know (and you probably wouldn't know it from looking at me), i am one of the biggest nin fans out there, so you can imagine my excitement at the prospect of going to another nine inch nails concert!

presale tickets went on sale tuesday at 5pm, just before i had to get ready to go take my literature final, but i managed to grab 2 tickets! this is quite an accomplishment: tickets sold out soon after that (my order went through at 5:02, haha). the concert is august 16 in houston, which is about 4 hours away from me, but it's on a saturday, so brandon and i are going to make a fun trip out of it. oh my god, i'm so hyped!

well anyway, in celebration, you know that print i have for sale in my shop of trent reznor? in celebration of my ticket-grabbing skillz, i am selling this print for just $1! i can hook you up if you want more than 1, no problem.

in other news: ugh, i am so glad this semester is over! i'm pretty sure i got all a's. so far, only my literature grade has been posted, and i got an a- in that, so that's good.

this summer is going to be so awesome! here's what's planned:

• june 7 - eddie izzard at the paramount theatre in austin


• trips to schlitterbahn (huge waterpark about an hour from where i am), six flags fiesta texas, and a trip to natural bridge caverns


• wedding stuff - buy my dress, book the catering, pick out a cake, get ahold of a ton of sparkling cider, have our picture taken as gifts for the guests, and have my bachelorette party!


• august 9 - brandon's birthday


• august 16 - NINE INCH NAILS!

i'm sure i forgot some stuff, but yeah, this summer is going to rock. then of course there's the wedding on october 9, and we got tickets to see jim gaffigan on december 6, as well :). it's a great year!

as far as my shop goes, i've got a lot of really cute ideas for new items planned, so be on the lookout for that! of course, you'll hear it first here, on the blog.

well, gotta run! now that school's taken care of, i have to make 40 pairs of earrings to fill my first wholesale order!
